Why we built this
We started Globetrotter because travel planning is fragmented. You check one site for visa rules, another for weather, a third for safety advisories, and a fourth for costs — then try to piece it all together. That process takes hours and often relies on outdated blog posts.
So we built a site that pulls live data from official sources and puts it into tools that answer specific questions. Is Tokyo safe in March? What should I pack for Iceland in winter? How much does a week in Bali cost? You shouldn't need six browser tabs for that.
Where the data comes from
We pull from four main sources, all regularly updated.

Travel advisories and safety alerts for every country worldwide.
Open-Meteo
Historical weather data and climate averages for accurate travel planning.
Travel Advice API
Real-time safety data, health risks, and traveler advisories.
REST Countries
Visa requirements, currency, and country information.
How we use AI
The AI trip planner builds itineraries from the same data our tools display -- actual costs, current safety levels, real weather, real places. It's not making things up in a vacuum.
We also use AI for destination introductions, travel tips, and FAQs across the site. The hard numbers always come from APIs. The written content helps you make sense of them.

Every tool on the site is free. We make money from affiliate links (travel gear and bookings), not subscriptions.
We don't sell your data

Who builds this
A small team that actually uses these tools to plan our own trips. Every feature started as something we needed. If the budget calculator is wrong about Bangkok, we'll notice because we're checking it too.
